If its the same thing I have been hearing, it is because Xbox’s keep getting the "ring of death" red lights flashing on the power button. So Microsoft decided to extend the warrenty to three years sence the date of purchase, pay for the shipping of the broken xbox, as well as pay for the repairs. They also said they will reimburse people who have already had their xbox’s repaired in the past. It is said to cost Microsoft 1 billion dollars.
